EIL – EXPERIMENT IN INTERNATIONAL LIVING

The Experiment is an international non-political and non-profit organization which works all over the world without prejudices and discrimination.
Having different languages, social status, political and religious believes is not a obstacle but only an incentive to go ahead and look for a contact with other cultures.
Nobody should give up the values of understanding realities different from ours and respect the personalities of other people. In 1951, the Experiment in International Living international office decided to adopt this logo to identify itself as organization. The symbol, which represents interlaced loops, is one of the oldest in the world. It was present in India, Iraq and Iran at least 5,000 years ago. It appeared in Egypt in the first decade of the Christian Era and in Ireland, Scandinavia and Northern Italy between 4th and 10th centuries. By the 14th century it was carved in marble by the Turks.

It has always been considered the symbol of the unbroken flow of the elements, life, family, generations and cultures. The Experiment in International Living adopted it because it represents the whole mankind which always moves, lives, passes and returns again to intersect, where people and cultures share deep human values interlaced through a common humanity and continually confronted by the need to understand one another.
